All Stitched Up: Ramsay Gourd for Tricia Heaton Designs
I had been eyeing this canvas since I first saw Ramsay’s sketches on my mother’s desk. Having been raised for the better half of my life in New England, this design brought about pleasant connotations of eating muscles at Larsons, my fiancé bringing home lobsters after diving at work, collecting clams for dinner in Maine, visiting Ethan’s marine science lab. The list goes on. Although I had originally picked out some fiery reds that match the canvas to a ‘T"‘, I decided to forego them for a more muted, true to my aesthetic palette. I simply love a good wisteria moment.
Similar to that of the grounds of medieval paintings, I loved that a little red speckle could be found throughout the stitching as the under painting shone through. Typically, I may be adverse to allowing so much paint come through, but for this particular design, it was a welcome after thought.
