There She Goes: Beauty & Power in Unity
Hello & Happy Wednesday!
Can you believe it — today is the final day in the month of September! I have trouble wrapping my head around this. A friend of mine put the perfect words to this passing of time — “The days go by slowly but the weeks go by fast!” Anyone else relate?
I also wanted to let you know that I am leading a workshop called Flow Into Fall, which will include yoga, intention setting, and community conversation. If you feel like is would be helpful to stretch the body and mind and to get a positive boost as we move into the end of the year — join me! I am keeping the group small and have a couple of spots left 🍂🧡 Reply to this email to be added!

Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care
I. Start your morning with a face mask. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never thought to use a face mask in the morning but it’s SUCH a nice way to start the day. This morning I put on a lovely charcoal mask, then spent 10-15 minutes preparing for the day and making my breakfast. Try treating yourself to a morning mask this week, see how you feel!
II. If you’re not in love with your night-time routine, try winding down another way. Call me crazy but the other night after a 10 hour workday, I really enjoyed sweeping the kitchen and folding laundry to wind down.
III. Grab your fall essential oils. What essential oils will help you flow through the rest of the year? Perhaps something spicy & warming, or maybe something earthy & grounding.
Soulful Salutations
I. “There is beauty and power in unity. We must be united in heart and mind. One world, one people.” — Lailah Gifty Akita
II. “You are born worthy — You are worth is intertwined with your very being.” — DailyOm
III. “Despite how open, peaceful, and loving you attempt to be, people only can meet you as deeply as they meet themselves. This is the heart of clarity.” — Matt Kahn
Uplifting Things Happening Around The World
I. Have you heard of the “GreenFactory” that will soon arrive to Abu Dhabi? This indoor farm is the size of 32 soccer fields and can produce 10,000 tons of fresh vegetables a year!
II. An 11 year old girl found a wedding ring on the Isle of Wight and reunited it with it’s owner!
III. The proportion of authors of color that write for young adult readers has more than doubled in the UK in the last two years!
Brooke’s Bookshelf
Written by Brooke McGowan, founder of Thorn Alexander
I’m slowly, but surely still tackling the stack of books by my bed (mentioned in previous newsletters), but am seriously looking forward to some fall TV while I work this week! For the last five years, I have been working from home on and off and love to have the TV going as I paint a room full of palm trees!

Emily In Paris — I love Lily Collins and squealed with delight when she first shared on her instagram the news of this show. I can’t believe October is nearly here and we can finally make a cuppa tea and tuck into this show! It may, just may satisfy some cravings to travel.
New Sir David Attenborough documentary — The planet’s loving 94 year old grandfather is about to make another debut with a new doc. I love him, that is all. In 2008, my entire pursuit of an art career was inspired by his quote, "The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?" - David Attenborough
This ultimately led to a rabbit hole of research, a college senior thesis in 2015 to which I built a life-sized elephant and even conservationist design choices in our animal needlepoint patterns
Mama Mia Here We Go Again — Mama Mia is my go to favorite when I’m feeling down and I actually really love this sequel! The last time I saw this, I was on on a plane to Tanzania
Masked Singer- New Season! I have loved this show since day one and it may be an ingredient for world peace.
Great British Baking Show — New Season! Thank you Netflix Gods for bringing something wholesome into our quarantine lives and I maaaaay even be inspired to finally make my first loaf of bread!
What Happened, Miss Simone? — The only things I may love more than music itself are documentaries about the artists. And I love Nina Simone.
Playing With Fire (Carlos Almaraz) — Sometimes I love going into movies blind, and this is one of them.
Have a great week!
Be well,
Sheila
