Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care

I.Next time you’re chatting with a friend, challenge yourself to be present. No really, make an extra effort to really be there in body, mind, and emotion. The more present you are, the deeper connection you’ll find, and the happier you’ll be 💙

II. Write a letter to a loved one that you miss. Maybe someone you aren’t able to see this summer, someone you saw and want to write to about the special time, or simply for a birthday!

III. This weekend reserve an hour (or more!) of reserved you time. No plans, no people to see, no things to do. Just you, soaking life up.

Soulful Salutation

On letting go…

“Let go... How would your life be different if you learned to let go of things that have already let go of you? From relationships long gone, to old grudges, to regrets, to all the 'could’ve' and 'should’ve,' to the dead friendships you still hang on to... Free yourself from the burden of a past you cannot change.” — Steve Marabol

Uplifting Things Happening Around The World

I.Carl Nassib is the first NFL player ever to come out as gay, and in the 24 hours since his video announcement his jersey has been the top-selling item across the league. Nassib also will be donating $100,000 to the Trevor Project.

II. With the aim of providing better work life balance, Japan has proposed a four-day work week.

III. Read about Zhi Xiang, the Chinese monk who has saved nearly 8,000 stray dogs!

Little America (series): This heartwarming series takes a vignette-esque look into various retellings of people who ultimately find themselves weaving their life's story into the American landscape. Having grown up in a very multi-cultural realm in Houston, TX, (before moving to VT in 2003) I absolutely love learning immigration stories and furthermore, about the cultural roots that peoples of different backgrounds bloom from. This Apple + series is a true gem and I am thankful to our fellow Canadian immigrant friends Dean and Antonia (UK & France) for sharing this recommendation with us!

Luca (film): Set in the Italian Riviera, this sweet Disney movie is a real treat if you're looking for a family friendly flick! Or if you're like me and need something light and refreshing for your mental health. Two underwater sea creatures formulate a friendship with a local human girl as they strive to win a local competition in order to buy a Vespa. However, the local town isn't particularly keen on sea monsters because they don't understand them. There are several sweet themes and lines that prompt compassion and kindness- highly recommend!

The World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals (series): This Netflix series follows three young travelers as they scope out exciting destinations that meet three different categories: budget friendly, unique and luxurious. Maybe it's because I have spent almost two years in a very tiny studio apartment, but I am getting the serious travel bug! From Bali to Montana and beyond, follow Jo, Meghan and Luis on their journeys to learn some travel tips or let your mind wander. I was very excited when I saw them visit Daufuskie Island. Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to visit the island with my partner, aunt and uncle. We had the opportunity to learn about the Gullah community, some of their history and explore a small taste of their art and culture. I personally believe they should have spent more time unpacking the Gullah experience, but appreciate the signal boosting of the island! Be right back, planning my next trip!

Have a great week!

Be well,
Sheila
