There She Goes: Thank-Full
Hello & Happy Thanksgiving EVE
Ahh Thanksgiving -- A time to max out the place settings at the table, reflect on all the wonderful things in your life, and try to disguise your stretchy pants as holiday chic. Then we’re well on our way into the holiday season and… do we have the gift guide for you! On Saturday, I will be sending out a kick a$$ guide that Brooke is putting the finishing touches on. Keep a look out for that!
I am writing to you from beautiful North Country New York. It was amazing how, as my partner and I drove north from New Hampshire, snow seemed to suddenly appear around us. I love being surrounded by snow up here, as it feels much more aligned with this time of year. On another note, yesterday I published two new recipes that I had on the back burner, “Gluten-free, Low FODMAP, Chocolate Chip Strawberry Muffins” and a “Pumpkin Power Smoothie.” Hope you enjoy!
Happy Thanksgiving, all! Sending you all a little extra grateful energy this week.
Songs To Stitch To, Sing To, Get You Through The Week
Sneaking in a sneak peek for “Our Common Thread,” debuting December 2nd.
Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care
I. Allow yourself to say yes! to your favorite Thanksgiving dishes, and no! to self-sabotaging guilt. When you overindulge, yoga for digestion is a good choice. Turn to this video from Yoga With Adriene for inspiration.
II. Pay attention to how much energy you are expending over the next few days if you are with a big group of friends/family. Sometimes we don’t realize the energy we are giving away simply being present and catering to many needs. When you need a moment, take it! Go step outside for a few minutes of deep breathing, stitch for an hour, take a solo car ride around town, or go take a nap (real or pretend).
III. Find blessings in your messes. The end of the year can be an especially triggering time, whether we’re feeling guilty for things left undone, or allowing limiting beliefs to tell the story in our head. The next time this happens, try reexamining the truth and bringing to mind the blessings and lessons you’ve learned and experienced this year. Fill up your feel-good cup!
Soulful Salutations
A few mantras by unknown people — pick one and put it on repeat in your mind this week.
“Don’t adapt to the energy in the room, influence the energy in the room.”
“The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.”
“All that you desire is already on it’s way”
Uplifting Things Happening Around The World
I. Big news — In Kenya there was the first installation of a solar plant that can turn ocean water into clean drinking water. This technology, called “solar water farms,” will be able to provide potable water to 35,000 people a day!
III. A self-proclaimed “easily entertained UPS driver” made it his goal to take photos with every dog he came across on his route. See the fun collection here! What I also find remarkable is that this UPS driver has 80k followers on Instagram.
Have a great week!
Be well,
Sheila
