This canvas by Unwind Studio x Paola Saliby is a dream!

I loooooved the simplicity of the design and knew that it would look gorgeous framed as part of a wishful gallery wall. I saw a needlepoint gallery wall in an old coffee table book of my mother’s about collecting and am manifesting having one of my own some day. A rustic gold frame with an ivory matting would be *chef’s kiss*

This canvas was so fun to stitch as I had never stitched a Penelope canvas before. Penelope refers to the intersecting nature of the weave. If you look closely, you’ll see it contrasts quite a bit to the Mono canvas that most American stitch. Truth be told, Penelope is a traditional weave that may spark nostalgia for those that stitched petit point back in the day. I loved trying this so so much and loved the juxtaposition of the detail I was able to achieve in the moon to the larger stitches of the remainder of the piece. I love 18 for it’s capacity for detail, but can’t seem to find the willpower to finish projects that have more than an ornament surface area in my needlepoint practice.

Paula is an artist from Brazil while Unwind is based in Portugal so I love love loved this collaboration!

I chose my own threads for this project.

Thread pairings:

FT59 gold by Fyrewerks

Whipped Cream by Silk & Ivory for the figure

Moon River by Silk & Ivory for the background

Midnight by Silk & Ivory for the foreground
