There She Goes: Helloooo CO!

Hello & Happy Weekend!

hiking-in-golden.jpg

Coming at you from Colorado! Since last week, I’ve gotten a little tour of the Midwest along our road trip, and eventually landed at our destination, Denver, Colorado. It’s been one of those weeks where time just disappears right beneath your nose? Other than spending time with my cousins and apartment hunting, I officially launched my life coaching business! I’m excited to share the website with the amazing Thorn Alexander community — sheilaanne.com — and hope to have the opportunity to work with a few of you in my 1:1 program, The Grove. I will share (no surprise here!) that Brooke has been an amazing guide and source of inspiration. I feel grateful to have absolutely amazing entrepreneurial women in my life & it’s what gets me even more fired up about spreading the love and lifting others up toward their unlimited potential.

This week I’m sharing new things, back-in-action things, and a new Thread Pairing blog post! Of course, you’ll also find jams and uplifting things to get you through the week. Enjoy !

Songs To Stitch To, Sing To, Get You Through The Week

Cruel — Monica Martin

Winter Song — The Head and the Heart

And It’s Still Alright — Nathaniel Rateliff

Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care

I. Embrace the idea that it’s ok if you suck. Yep, exactly that. Jamie Kenney shares a thought-provoking story about stitching and the life lessons it teaches. “Needlepoint has taught me that it's OK if you suck and I am embracing that fact with both arms, not just for myself but for my kids.” If you haven’t checked out Favorite Finds (where blogs like this are posted + more fun things) on the Thorn Alexander Style blog, I highly recommend you do!

II. While in conversation — Flip your phone over or (better yet) put it in a place you can’t see. This will shut down the temptation to reach for your device and lose your connection with the present moment. Bonus: This will do wonders for your relationships! (This one is from one of my recent blog posts, Self Care For The Hectic Life!)

III. If you’re a cat person or just like to laugh, check out this “Pirate Cat,” also known as Miss Rigby, that has spent her whole life sailing the ocean with her family.

Soulful Salutations

“Most transformations come about from the hundreds of tiny, almost imperceptible, steps we take along the way.” — Lori Gottlieb, Maybe You Should Talk To Someone

“Always leave enough time in your life to do something that makes you happy, satisfied, even joyous. That has more of an effect on economic well-being than any other single factor.” — Paul Hawken

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” — Noharanda

Uplifting Things Happening Around The World

I. Finland is offering as much paid leave for new fathers as new mothers. The Minister of Health and Social Affairs, Aino-Kaisa Pekonen, said: “This enables better equality between parents and diversity among families.”

II. Solar power energy could soon be cheaper than fossil fuels! A new breakthrough shows that the cost of cadmium telluride, a key component in solar paneling, could plunge by 45%.

III. The defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, Derrick Nnadi, celebrated the Superbowl win by paying the adoption fees for 91 dogs in search of a home.

Have a great week!

Be well,
Sheila
