There She Goes: September Soul Stitchin'
Hello & Happy Wednesday!
This week I left the serene waters of Lake Charleston and made a pit stop in Vermont for a few days. Yep, of course we saw Brooke and Mr. Oceans! It was such a gift to spend some quality time with them before they embark on their epic adventure to British Colombia. It’s there that they’ll begin a whole new chapter of their lives and careers. As with everything, I know that they will approach this shift with patience, grace, and a heavy dose of creativity. Looking forward to seeing it happen! When the car ride gets boring, I hope the Soul Stitch playlist will help 😜
Songs To Stitch To, Sing To, Get You Through The Week
Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care
I. Make (&review) a to-do list at night. It may seem counter-intuitive to make a list at night when you are also winding your brain down, however this tool has been effective in driving productivity (because you are already set up when you rise) and in stimulating relaxation (when the tasks are down on paper, they can’t keep you up at night). Test it out for yourself!
II. Hold someone’s hand! Decrease cortisol levels and increase oxytocin levels for yourself and a friend/lover with this age-old act of compassion. Simple and effective in spreading the love 💕
III. Reduce the amount of time you spend worrying about money. How? Take a look at this article my partner James wrote on saving money. Then focus only on what you can control by spending less than you make… and investing as much as possible.
Uplifting Things Happening Around The World
I. Michael Jordan donated $1 million to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the Bahamas. It’s always good to see celebrities giving back, especially when it’s to a community so in need.
II. New “Lego” houses can be built in just a matter of days and promise to be carbon neutral. The building startup, Node, builds Scandi-style homes that can be easily assembled and broken down, with pricing similar to building a new home from conventional materials.
III. New Zealand’s government just established a suicide prevention office that will focus all of its efforts on reducing the climbing rates of suicide across the nation.
