There She Goes: Fall in Vermont
Hello From Vermont!
I am writing to you from one of my favorite places on the East Coast and possibly the world — Burlington, Vermont. I can’t quite put my finger on what makes this place so insanely special. With the music scene, the access to local food, the friends we have here, and the proximity to outdoor playgrounds, it always makes for a special trip. This time around, we went on a sunset sail on Lake Champlain and are also going to see Meute, a band my partner and I actually started listening to while abroad. It a beautiful fall week here, so we’ll also squeeze in some hiking fun!
Enjoy this week’s stitching songs, self care, and uplifting tidbits! Also head over to She & Jim to check out my latest blog post on “Traveling Light.”
Songs To Stitch To, Sing To, Get You Through The Week
Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care
I. Savor your favorite warm, fall drink. Prepare a steaming pot of hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick, blend up raw cacao, nut milk, and maca, or another inspiration. Then sip nice and slow and savor until the last drop. Who says drinking tea can’t count as meditation?
II. Ask for help and delegate tasks. Identify an area of your personal or professional life where you may want to take a little load off. If this does not come naturally to you (and especially if you pride yourself in being a do-it-all type) keep in mind how much more successful (and happy!) you’ll be in the long run. The more you ask for help and delegate, the better you can become at it.
III. Light a cozy candle. I personally love the light that candles give off, and even better if it has natural scents such as lavender or rosemary. Even the ritual of lighting a candle in the evening can be calming.
Uplifting Things Happening Around The World
I. The global economy could gain trillions by the year 2030 with radical transformation of food and land use systems. Healthy diets are likely to be the single largest contributor, followed by the agriculture sector. Check out the article for “10 things we can do to improve food & land use”
