There She Goes: “That’s Just Living”
Hello & Happy Wednesday!
This week I went back to my favorite yoga studio, South Boston Yoga, in Boston. It was wild to be back in the space, after a long break, that I had frequented every other weekend this past fall & winter during our 200 hour teacher training. It felt like so much time had passed, and also that no time had passed at all. David our teacher, led a flow that was both tough and rejuvenating, and I felt like I was “coming home” in a way to myself — acknowledging that I can grow in all sorts of ways but always come back to the mat. That class has helped me feel balanced and disciplined as I move through the week, and we need this kind of inspiration as the days start to darken! I hope you find things this week that make you move and feel things. Enjoy this week’s Soul Stitch 💕✌

Set Aside Some Time This Week For Some Self-Care
I. Pat yourself on the back. Yes, I mean literally reach around and give yourself a pat. Though seemingly silly, there is something psychologically rewarding about physically saying to yourself, “Hey self, you’ve done a great job!”
II. Take the compliment! This week, pay attention to your reaction when someone gives you a compliment —both big and small— and resist the urge to discount it. When in doubt, I heard listening to Lizzo and repeating her #girlpower lyrics is a great way to hype yourself up.
III. Give your skin a nice scrub. A once-a-week facial and body scrub can do wonders for your skin, not to mention rejuvenating your spirit. I like the Cocokind sea moss exfoliator but I’m also getting more excited about creating my own scrubs. For example, I found a recipe in the book I bought from Farmacy (one of my favorite restaurants in London) which simply combines coconut oil, granulated sugar, and a few drops of essential oil.
Uplifting Things Happening Around The World
I. This National Geographic article addressing the booming whale population in New York Harbor! The whale life in this area is not easy— due to pollution, human activities, and competition for space and food — but there has been an obvious returning of whales to the area. Last year there were 272 whale sightings and more are expected this year, as 377 whales of different species have already been recorded!
II. A large sum of money was raised in under a week to pay for the treatment of a toddler’s spinal muscular atrophy. Donors all over the world jumped in to raise the 700 million HUF necessary for the expensive medicine… and they did so in time!
III. Do any of you have IKEA furniture? Good news about this company— it projects to create more energy than it consumes by 2020!
Soulful Salutations
This week I’m sharing a longer quote I recently heard and intend to frame:
“Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That's just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful.” — L.R. Knost
